About
Milad Bagheri is a Kurdish-Iranian vocalist, performer, composer, and music producer based in Toronto. Originally from Kermanshah, Iran, his artistic practice is rooted in Persian traditional and Kurdish folk music while engaging with contemporary, orchestral, operatic, and interdisciplinary forms.
Across his work as a vocalist, creator, and producer, he has developed a distinctive performance practice that brings Iranian musical traditions into dialogue with new arrangements, original compositions, and cross-cultural collaborations.
He made his operatic debut in 2015 as Zaal in Roudabeh with the Ayrik Opera Ensemble. From 2015 to 2019 he was a lead vocalist of Dang Show, one of Iran’s prominent contemporary fusion ensembles, performing extensively in Iran and internationally.
Exploring how Iranian musical traditions, poetry, and cultural memory can be carried into new compositions, interpretations, and contemporary performance.
Since establishing his career in Canada, he has expanded his practice across Persian and Kurdish repertoire, contemporary music, orchestral performance, opera, recording, and multidisciplinary creation. He is a co-founder of Chaam Project, formerly known as Chaam Trio, where he works closely with composer and pianist Homa Samiei.
He is also Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Chaam Art Centre in Toronto, and Principal Vocal Coach of Chaam Choir. Moving between heritage and contemporary composition, fusion, opera, orchestral performance, recording, and production, his career bridges musical worlds without being defined by a single genre.
